2018 Toyota Corolla Trims

The Corolla continues to be offered in two body styles: sedan and hatchback (iM). The sedan comes in six trims (L, LE, LE Eco, XLE, SE and XSE), while the iM is offered in one.

For budget-minded shoppers, the Corolla L offers plenty of equipment for the price. Standard features include 15-inch steel wheels, LED daytime running lights, LED headlights, a driver information display, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, a six-speaker sound system and a 6.1-inch touchscreen. Moving up to the popular LE trim adds larger wheels, remote locking/unlocking, heated mirrors, automatic climate control and upgraded upholstery.

The iM comes with its own equipment roster, starting with projector-beam headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, LED mirror-integrated turn signal indicators, 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome-tipped exhaust and a rear spoiler. On the tech side, the hatch features keyless entry, a customizable driver information display, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth and a 7-inch touchscreen.

2018 Toyota Corolla Horsepower

All models of the 2018 Corolla in Evansville are equipped with a 1.8-liter inline-4 engine, although output differs slightly depending on the trim. Most versions of the sedan are rated at 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque, not including the fuel-conserving LE Eco which puts out 140 hp and 126 lb-ft of torque. The sporty Corolla iM hatchback clocks in at 137 hp and 126 lb-ft.

Standard, the 1.8-liter engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission. However, manual loyalists can swap it out for a six-speed gearbox on SE and iM models.

2018 Toyota Corolla Safety Scores

According to The Car Connection's 2018 Corolla review, safety is one of the car's best qualities. On top of the usual gear like airbags and stability and traction control, the Corolla is outfitted with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes driver-assistance technologies like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and automatic high beams. Sedan models also come with adaptive cruise control.

The 2018 Corolla also boasts some impressive crash test scores. The NHTSA has once again awarded it a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating, and critics expect that it will remain an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ as well.
