How Often Should I Service My Toyota RAV4?

The Toyota RAV4 is a tough family SUV, but it will be a lot tougher when you keep with your Toyota RAV4 maintenance schedule. This essential regimen of services includes basics like oil changes and tire rotations, but as your model ages, you'll need even more extensive maintenance. Your specific trim's service manual will expand on the Toyota RAV4 service intervals even further, but this is a good general guide for when to bring that rugged SUV in for some attention.

15,000-Mile Service

Early service on a RAV4 is one of the most important services. When you keep everything fresh on your major components, those components will age more slowly. At this service interval, you'll want an oil change and filter change, a tire rotation, and a basic visual inspection of your fluids. For example, sometimes, your model might need some new coolant at this interval.

30,000-Mile Service

Your brakes are an important part of your vehicle as it's just as important to be able to stop as it is to go. If you've been pushing your RAV4 hard over the last 30,000 miles, it might need fresh brake fluid and brake pads. Engine coolant can be replenished here, too. Your certified auto mechanic can also refresh spark plugs, air filters, and fuel filters if the need calls for it.

60,000-Mile Service

Optional services like tire replacements and brake pad replacement will become more attractive at this service interval. You'll want to keep your RAV4 running like new, and to do that; you might need valve adjustment, differential fluid, automatic transmission fluid, or drive belt replacement. As always, tires are good to replace at this stage, too.

90,000-Mile Service

Struts and shock absorbers affect the drive quality of your RAV4. If your RAV has been a little more bouncy and difficult to control on the road in recent miles, it might be because it's time to replace these vital suspension elements. A precise, controlled drive is one of the pleasures of a RAV4. You can keep your 90,000 mile RAV4 driving as good as new with a simple strut/absorber replacement. Your mechanic will also check your hoses and possibly replace them at this time, too.

Your service manual will go into more detail about each of these services and when they're right for your RAV4 trim. As always, you can consult the experts at our Toyota dealership for more information about service intervals, too.
