Volvo Engine Not Working
Ā

It's helpful to understand some of what goes on with the inner workings of your automobile. While you want to have a professional take care of any needed repairs, you can often narrow down what's going on when something is going on, like your engine not starting. There are some common reasons why this situation may occur.

Your Battery Needs Service or Replacement

A battery that isn't charged or isn't holding a charge isn't going to be able to start your engine. We see a lot of people who have drained their batteries accidentally. Quick recharge is all that's needed to get going again. There are also scenarios where the battery is completely dead. It's not holding a charge, so a new battery is going to be needed.

Your Ignition is Malfunctioning

An ignition problem is to blame if your headlights are working fine, but your ignition isn't engaging the motor. Our technicians start assessing your ignition once we've determined that the battery is in working order.

Starter Service is Needed

Your starter is a key component of starting up your automobile. This electric motor ties into your car's battery and will start your engine when you press the ignition. A starter problem is to blame if you don't notice anything happening when you try to start your engine. The most you'll notice is a clicking sound.

Fuel Filter Replacement

Filters in your automobile aren't designed to last forever. Your fuel filter actually has a very long life expectancy. Most models need their fuel filter replaced once every 20,000 to 30,000 miles. You can refer to your owner's manual to determine what the recommendation is for your automobile. Our technicians can also provide you with guidance.

Head to the Gas Pumps

If you're forgotten to fill your gas tank and your tank is empty, your engine won't run. Find a way to get gas into your tank, or you can contact roadside assistance for help.

EV Tax Credit & Charger Incentives

Federal EV Tax Credit
Right now, federal tax credits can reduce the cost of buying an electric Toyota. The Clean Vehicle Credit provides up to $7,500 toward eligible vehicles. There’s also a credit for installing a home EV charger—but both programs are ending soon. The charger credit expires after June 30, 2026, and the EV tax credit is set to end on September 30, 2025, unless extended. If you're thinking about going electric, don’t wait.
