Toyota Vehicle Service Warning Indicators
Kenny Kent Toyota knows that drivers have questions about maintenance issues. Vehicle service indicators, or warning lights, can alert you to the presence of mechanical problems. They can also remind you that service on your car is due. Here is a list of the top 10 vehicle service indicators you may encounter.

Airbag Fault
This warning indicator will flash as your car is started, but if it stays on after ignition, you may have a problem with your airbags or restraints. You should bring in your car for service so that a professional can examine your airbag and supplemental restraint system.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light
Fuel is needed for your car, and you should refuel as soon as possible. Don't assume that you can drive for a certain distance when this indicator appears.

Oil Pressure Warning Light
Your car's oil pressure warning light can come on when you are low on oil, but it may also indicate a more serious problem. You should fill the oil first. If the light remains on, take your car to a service center.

Service Vehicle Soon
Most car manufacturers recommend that you service your car every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. You will see this service indicator when the service on your car is due. Once you have an oil change and a tire rotation, the indicator will be reset to remind you at the right time.

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
Cars equipped with TPMS provide a service indicator when tire inflation is low. Adding air should result in the indicator to go away. A TPMS light that stays on usually means that the system is malfunctioning. A professional will need to examine the TPMS for an error.

Slip Indicator
Your tires may be losing traction when you see this Vehicle Stability Control indicator. Also known as Traction Control, this feature is meant to help you use caution on slippery road surfaces. The light should not remain on at all times.

Charging System Warning Light
When you see this service indicator, it means that the battery in your car is not charging properly. That can mean that there is an issue with your alternator, or it can mean that a belt has broken. Your car needs to be stopped until you are able to bring it to our service department.

Brake System
You will see this service light when a problem has been detected in your braking system, but your brakes are not at risk for immediate failure. Our service center can check your brakes and make repairs as necessary. Ignoring this warning could result in damage to your braking system.

Open Door Warning Light
An open door warning light indicates that one of your car's doors is open. The trunk may also be open. Check to make sure all the doors are closed securely before driving.

Coolant Level Warning
The coolant level warning is one of the most serious vehicle service indicators. It means that your car is low on coolant, and you should check it as soon as the car is cool. Operating your vehicle with low coolant could cause permanent damage to your car's engine.
